March 3, 1949 – May 5, 2021
East Wenatchee, Washington
Kathryn Ann “Kathi” Tiechner left the world she knew on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. She had been residing at Blossom Creek Memory Care Center.
Kathi was the spouse of Jac R. Tiechner for close to 49 years. She was the mother of Henry Samuel Tiechner, age 39 of E. Wenatchee, and Alexander Burns Tiechner, age 38 of Lincoln, California.
Kathryn was born in Rock Island, Illinois on March 3, 1949. She was an intelligent and talented young woman. She attended St. Ambrose College and received a degree in Art in 1971. Her intended art career was interrupted that summer by falling in love with her future husband at Lake Tahoe, CA. She added to his world in so many ways, including her art skills in pottery, stained glass, and her perspectives in life.
A rainbow across the Columbia River is how she first saw the Wenatchee Valley she grew to love as home since 1976. Kathryn became the office manager for her podiatrist husband for twenty-one years, balancing work and child rearing with skill and devotion. Backpacking vacations with family filled much of their early life. Later, more exotic trips included Europe, Mexico, Caribbean, Costa Rica, and Hawaii augmented her life. The family cabin she successfully bid on in an auction near Lake Wenatchee 42 years ago was a special retreat for her and family.
Kathryn leaves her husband, Jac, her two sons Sam and Alex, five granddaughters, two brother Tom Burns of Carmichael, CA and Hank Burns of Rock Island IL to remember a devoted woman, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and fine dignified human being.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to the Chelan Douglas Land Trust.
