I met Fred at the YMCA years ago..... We had great conversations about small school athletics, teaching, and the greater Palouse area I grew up in. We had a lot of fun talking about those small towns in Whitman County. He had been to my hometown and been up to our small town cemetery, met my dad who at the time was on the Cemetery Board and the Sargent of Arms for the American Legion. They had a great time talking about history.
Fred then came back and did a ton of research - helped identify additional old graves that had served in the military so they could be marked and honored for Memorial Day services.... He made sure I took the packet to Garfield to update and compete the records.
Fred was a pleasure - I enjoyed visiting with him!
