Joe was born in Portland, Oregon to William and Olive Killaby on January 30, 1944, and spent his childhood years there. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the marine Corps and was always proud to be a Marine. He appreciated everyone who served and whenever he saw someone wearing a service hat, he was quick to thank them for their service.
After discharge, Joe returned to Portland and worked in the insurance business or several years. During this time, he and his wife became the proud parents of a son: Joe.
In his later years, he worked in the custodial industry in Denver, and then moved to Wenatchee to be with his mother due to her failing health. He worked for 15+ years in the Housekeeping Departments at Central Washington Hospital and then for the Wenatchee School District.
In 1989, he met he met Sally Beieler and they were married in 1993. They enjoyed landscaping their property and Joe loved to work with his hands, building items for their home. Joe had a passion for golf and was out on a golf course every chance he had; a love he shared with his son. He and Sally had many fun golf vacations around Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and British Columbia, and he especially enjoyed the Oregon Coast.
Joe is survived by his wife: Sally; his son Joe Killaby (Lesley) of Milwaukie, OR; his stepsons: Michael Beieler (Shelia) and their children David and Makaela of Wenatchee, Danielle Beieler of Spokane and James Beieler (Betty) and their children Sebastian and Natalia of Bellingham, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents: William Joseph Killaby and Olive Irene Bennett.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and blessings to the wonderful staff at Blossom Valley Assisted Living and the Hospice staff of Confluence Health, for their faith and dedication in care for Joe and for keeping him as comfortable as possible.
