Lydia M. Dammann

If you are reading this, Then I have died.

I was born on June 10, 1927. I was named Lydia Marie Fitzgerald by my parents, Roy L. (Buzz) Fitzgerald and Myrtle Marie Housden. We moved from Junction City, Oregon 10 days later to Dyer, Washington. Later we moved to Mansfield, Washington and I ended up with 2 sisters, (Wilma and Colleen) and one brother, Michael.

I attended grade school in Mansfieldand graduated from high school in Sprague. I attended Kinman Business College and worked at Sacred Heart Hospita lin Spokane. With "itchy feet", I then moved to Wenatchee to work. I met Harold Dammann and we married in 1948. Our daughter Amm Marie was born in 1949 and our son Carl (Tim) in 1951.

Being "too lazy" to work I stayed home and indulged in eating Chocolates and reading True Romance novels. Gardening and Music was a favorite pass time as well as needle arts and wood crafts.

Harold died in 2003 after 54 years of marriage.

Survivors include Ann Marie Elliott (Steve), Carl Dammann (Irene Saphra). Grandchildren (Brian Elliott (Laurie), Adam Elliott (Christina) and Michael Elliott.

As per my wishes there will be a party of Celebration of life and death (at a later date) as this is a normal progression.

I am truely grateful for my family support along with friends in my progression through the various stages of life. Life is good and death is just the next step to who knows where. It will be interesting to find out.

We got to know Lydia much later in life through Carl and Irene, and she was such a hoot and a pleasure to spend time with. She had endless stories, especially about Carl’s young antics and so many stories about the rest of her beloved family. She was an artist and a very good one at that. And she loved dark beer! She always had a funny response to any topic, spoken with a matter of factness and a twinkle in her eye. She was very generous in her crafts, and I am the proud owner of several of her amazing textiles. We shall miss Lydia dearly. I will be interested to find out if she was right about another interesting journey in the progression of life! Cheers to Lydia😉🍺

So sorry about Lydia’s passing. Loved, loved your Mom’s sense of humor! I will make sure my Dad (Jerry Smits) is notified. Sincerely, Barb Thornton
