Maria Helen Tapia, 62, a longtime East Wenatchee resident and former Southern California resident, passed away at her home on Thursday, July 4, 2019.
She was born on January 2, 1957, in Indio, California, to the late Thomas Lemus Marin and Marie Del Refugio Casas. She graduated from high school and continued her education, receiving her degree as a Beautician and Cosmetologist. She later became a Social Worker for Head Start Schools and later a Medical Assistant at Medical Clinics. She met and was marred to Martin L. Tapia. They have made their family home in East Wenatchee since 1994.
She is survived by her husband, Martin L. Tapia of East Wenatchee, WA; three children: Ana L. (Elias) Garibay of East Wenatchee, WA, Fabian "Fabio" Tapia of Wenatchee, WA, and Vianey L. Tapia of East Wenatchee, WA; seven brothers and sisters: Maria "Tina" (Johnny) Jackson of Porterville, CA, Marcelina Chavis of Yakima, WA, Ernesto (Encarnacion) Lemus of Porterville, CA, Santiago "Jimmy" (Catarina) Lemus of Bakersfield, CA, Anna (Ildefonso) "Al" Rodriguez of East Wenatchee, Tomas Lemus of Poplar, CA, Mary Martha Lopez of Porterville, CA; and five grandchildren: Javier Garibay ofEast Wenatchee, WA, Beyanca Garibay of East Wenatchee, WA, Chevelle Tapia of Wenatchee, WA, Amiah Romero of East Wenatchee, WA, and Fabian Tapia Jr. of Wenatchee, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant brother, Tomas Lemus Jr.
A Funeral Service, officiated by Pastor Dallas Stringer and Pastor Bob Bauer, will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Eastmont Baptist Church in East Wenatchee, WA. A Graveside Burial will be held at the Woodville, Cemetery, located at 17203 Ave. 168, Woodville, California. Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Memorial Chapel, East Wenatchee & Cashmere, Washington.
