Robbie Joe Bowling, 61, a long time Wenatchee Valley resident and local musician died on Thursday, January 10, 2019 in East Wenatchee.
He was born on April 9, 1957, in Monroe, Washington, to Sammy Joe and Carol June (Ritchal) Bowling. As a youngster he moved with his family to East Wenatchee and attended Grant and Kenroy Elementary, Sterling middle school and Eastmont high school. While in junior high and high school, Robbie played drums and played in the marching band performing in many parades.
Following high school Robbie proudly served in the US Army and was based in Germany. He received an honorable discharge and returned to Wenatchee where he focused on his career as a musician and played drums for a number of local bands. He worked as a sales representative for Consolidated Electrical Distributors (CED) and furthered his education at Wenatchee Valley College. Robbie received his degree as a Certified Drug and Alcohol counselor and was a Substance Abuse counselor until health concerns steered him in a new direction. Robbie was employed at Mission Vista group home, where he gladly engaged his clients with various fun activities.
Robbie loved music and especially enjoyed his family and all events that came with being a, “Bowling,” such as camping, plunking and gaming with his son, Sammy, movie marathons with his brother, Steve, wagering bets with his nephew, Cole, and of course the family fishing tournaments. He loved all the time he spent with Sammy and cherished them more than anything. Robbie enjoyed taking his mother on trips to the casino (bring em’ on down Frankie!) He shared daily, his love with his sister, and best friend, Tami, by calling and asking, “what’s for dinner?”
Robbie will continue to be loved and deeply missed by his son, Sammy Bowling II; mom, Carol Bowling (CJ); brother, Steve Bowling; sister and brother-in-law, Tami and Kevin “Bubba” Lexa, all of Wenatchee; beloved stepdaughters: Hailey Kalahar, Whitney Holland and Courtney Holland, as well as his nieces and nephews: Amanda and Matt Coplin, Cole (Becca) Groche and Cassidy Coates. Robbie was preceded in death or lead on that stairway to heaven by his father Sammy Joe Bowling.
A Celebration of Life for Robbie will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Eastmont Community Church, located at 783 4th Street NE, East Wenatchee, WA, 98802.
