Obituary

Robert Loren Skell
November 29, 1927 – December 27, 2018
East Wenatchee, WA

Robert “Bob” Loren Skell, 91, of East Wenatchee, WA, died peacefully in his home on Thursday, December 27, 2018.

Bob was born to parents, Fredrick and Beatrice Skell, on November 29, 1927, in Waco, TX. He attended Alamo Heights High School and graduated in 1944. Bob joined the United States Coast Guard (1944 until 1946), where he was a radio technician on St. Johns Lightship and Fort Sumter. Bob owned Apple Valley Computers, one of the first computer stores in the Wenatchee Valley, until he retired in the early 2000’s.

Bob’s best friends were his Norwegian Elkhounds, which he had for over 50 years. His most recent one, named Candy, misses him terribly. All of Bob’s neighbors enjoyed visiting with him and his Elkhounds when he walked them through his neighborhood, two to three times a day. Bob was very active up until about nine months ago, when he was diagnosed with blood clots. This did not slow him down much though. He kept busy and made sure Candy got her two to three stop-sniff and pees a day. He took many adventures, including traveling the country, buying surplus and electronic equipment. Bob enjoyed buying and selling antiques, as he was involved in many antique shows, and hit every yard sale he could every year. He was well known for his antique Christmas tree, village and light displays, and was even featured in the Wenatchee World.

Bob is survived by his best friend, his beloved dog, Candy; and his adopted family: Heidi, Hannah, Adam, and Luke. Bob had two other special friends: Christal and Bryan, who also made a difference in his life. He was preceded in death by his mother; and father. Bob fought hard up until his last breath, he was the sweetest most kind man you would every know, and we miss him so much already. Our lives will not be the same without our Mr. Bob.

Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Memorial Chapel, East Wenatchee.

Oh Bob we miss you much. Heidi and i wish we could talk to you...even if it was for a very short while. One thing im glad you dont have to deal wi(th in this world. Any more is other peoples behaviors, Actions, lies and greedyness. Espcially after someone moves on to their next Journey.Heidi and i are still looking for that island. Someday.....As promised your Beautiful Baby Candy is being taken care of. Shes still stubborn as ever had to bail her out of jail. Lol She got a new collar, her tags and a new heart name tag. We all miss you Bry says he misses your laugh when he would snort.... Lol May the great spirit guide u on your next Journey and May you fly High with the Eagles now my friend. You are so missed🐾🌹❤

We bought our first computer from Bob. He loved to be up on the next big thing. He participated in an exhibit of cartoon art that I curated with Terri White at the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center. He was a Great Wenatchee Valley character. I'll miss him.

I’m surprised there was no mention of the family he had for 29 years. A wife and 4 children. I pray he’s finally at “peace”.
