John Wayne Simmons
December 31, 1941 – April 30, 2018
John Wayne Simmons passed away peacefully in Wenatchee, Washington, on Monday, April 30, 2018. John was born to Harland and Mary Mattie (Dennerline) Simmons on December 31, 1941, in Longview, WA. After graduating from high school, John worked in the grocery industry. He continued to work two jobs for nearly 10 years after he began his lengthy career with the WA State Department of Transportation. John had fond memories and lively stories regarding his snow plowing adventures on Stevens Pass.
John was proud to own vintage muscle cars and enjoyed talking about any classic, American-made vehicle. He deemed modern cars as boring. John also loved guns. He was excited to own guns that reminded him of John Dillinger and Clint Eastwood.
John chose to live life on his own terms. He was truly a man of strong convictions. John was truthful and loyal to those he deemed as friends. John was a good man and will be deeply missed.
John is survived by his sister, Janice Wilson, Spokane, WA.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Heritage Memorial Chapel, located at 19 Rock Island Road, East Wenatchee, WA. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at1 PM at the Wenatchee Cemetery, 1804 N. Western Ave., Wenatchee, WA.
