Allyn Lloyd “A.J.”Jeffries, 74, of East Wenatchee and a former longtime owner of A.J.’s Body Shop in Cashmere, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Central Washington Hospital.
He was born on August 1, 1943 at Aberdeen, Washington to the late John and Lloydene (Racus) Jeffries. As a young child, the family moved to Wenatchee and Allyn received his schooling in Wenatchee and East Wenatchee, graduating from Eastmont High School. He continued his education at Green River College at Auburn, where he studied Civil Engineering. In January of 1964, he entered the U.S. Army and served until receiving his honorable discharge in October of 1965. Upon his returning to Wenatchee, he went to work at Horton, Dennis and Associates as a Surveyor. In the early 1970’s, he opened his own Auto body repair shop in Cashmere, known as A.J.’s body Shop. He operated his body shop for nearly 25 years prior to retiring and moving to East Wenatchee in the early 2000’s.
Allyn was well known in the Valley for his 17’ Stevens Big Block Chevy Drag Boat known as “Poncho”. He enjoyed the horses that he had pastured in Cashmere and loved his long haired Persian Cats, “Sam” and Smoggie”.
He is survived by his three siblings, Darrel & Sue Jeffries, East Wenatchee, Siri & Pete Fadich, Toppenish and Kim Jeffries, Wenatchee; six nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew.
