Anita “Nita” Ann DeWitt
December 13, 1951 - January 25, 2018
Anita Ann DeWitt, 66, a lifelong Wenatchee Valley resident, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Avalon Manor Adult Home for Seniors in East Wenatchee.
She was born on December 13, 1951, in Wenatchee to the late Edward “Ned” and Anna Mae (Smith) Shiflett. She was raised on Stemilt Hill and later in Wenatchee Heights. She attended South Wenatchee Elementary , Pioneer Middle School and Wenatchee High School. She graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1970. She had met Jonn M. DeWitt, they were married on June 19, 1970, in Wenatchee. They made their home together in East Wenatchee. Anita went to work as a Para Educator for the Eastmont School District. She briefly worked at Lee Elementary before she began at Kenroy Elementary. She worked for the school district for over 25 years, retiring in 2011. They have continued to make their home in East Wenatchee.
Jonn and Anita enjoyed camping and traveling in their RV and especially loved spending time with their family and friends. They loved to go camping at Lake Pearrygin area above Winthrop. She was an avid gardener and loved raising vegetables. She enjoyed bowling and had bowled in several leagues over the years. Finishing with a special group of friends in December 2017.
Anita is survived by her husband, Jonn DeWitt, of East Wenatchee, WA; children: Shonn DeWitt and Sharmen (Eric) DeWitt -Dye of East Wenatchee, WA; brothers: Darwin (Dixie) Shiflett, of East Wenatchee, WA, and Kevin (Debbie) Shiflett, of Wenatchee, WA; six grandchildren: Spencer Dye, Skylar Dietrich-Dye, Sean Eli Dye, Julia Ramsey-Dye, Samantha Dye and Bella Dye, all of East Wenatchee, WA; and mother-in-law, Patti DeWitt of East Wenatchee, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Terry Shiflett.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Heritage Memorial Chapel, located at 19 Rock Island Road, East Wenatchee, WA. An inurnment will take place at the Stemilt Hill Cemetery in the Spring of 2018. You are invited to visit her online tribute at HeritageMemorialChapel.com and leave a memory. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Kenroy Elementary PTO in Anita’s name. Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Memorial Chapel, East Wenatchee.
