Dennis F. Bode, 82, a Wenatchee resident for over 50 years, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Central Washington Hospital.
He was born on October 24, 1935 at Sacramento, California to the late Carl and Lydia (Hatley) Bode. At the age of one, the family moved to Bishop, California and later settled in Fresno. Dennis received his education in Fresno, where he attended high school. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1957 and served in Bermuda. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to Fresno and went to work at the Lockheed Martin Aircraft Company. In the early 1960’s, he moved to Seattle and went to work at the Boeing Renton Plant. Following a Boeing lay off, he became an Insurance Agent, selling Life and Cancer Insurance Policies. During the mid 1960’s, he transferred to Wenatchee with the Lonestar Life Insurance Company and became their regional agent. He later became a Real Estate Agent and worked for Zittings Reality. He also operated a electronics repair shop on Wenatchee Avenue. Upon semi retiring he worked at the food bank prior to becoming a Driver for Tran-Care, transporting people to medical appointments locally as well as to Seattle. He retired completely in early 2000.
Dennis attended Blessed Hope Baptist church in Wenatchee, was a member of the Wenatchee Senior Center and a former member of Wenatchee Aerie # 204, Fraternal Order of Eagles. He loved working on his home built travel trailer. He was a short story writer, and also wrote his own biography.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Bode, Wenatchee; four children, Denise Soyars, Denver, CO, Steven Bode, Russell Bode and David Bode all of Security, CO; four step-children, Ernie (Marsha) Parker, North Glenn, CO, Tony (Tonya) Parker, Wenatchee, Christy (Jim) Hull, East Wenatchee and Mike (Michelle) Parker, East Wenatchee; his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry & Faith Bode, Encinitas, CA; 15 grandchildren, Suzanne Hester, Elizabeth Bode, John Maze, Magdalena Schmidt, James T. Soyars III, Nathan Hull, Brandon Hull, Andrew Parker, Bradley Parker, Cameron Parker, Matthew Parker, Zoe Chandler, Layla Chandler, Violet Middleton, Melanie Gregg and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carl and Eldon “Rick” Bode.
A Commemoration service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, 1301 10th Street N.E., East Wenatchee, with Pastor Chris Majors Officiating.
