Vernon Lee Sandbak
April 7. 1949 • November 19, 2017
It is with great sadness that the family of Vern Sandbak announces his passing after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Vern peacefully left us at his home late on Sunday, November 19 , 2017, at the age of 68. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving wife of 30 years, Beverly, daughter, Stephanie, his parents, George (his father, best friend and fishing partner), and Naomi (his biggest fan), sisters, Vicki and Georgene, and brothers, Verle and Jeffrey, as well as his extended family from Town Ford (Pat Armstrong and "the gang") and many caring and concerned friends.
Vern was born in Minot, N.D. on April 7, 1949 . The Sandbak family migrated to Washington State and settled in Monroe, where Vern graduated from Monroe High School in 1967. As a gifted athlete with tremendous .artistic abilities, he attended Eastern Was hington University, prior to enlist ing in the U.S. Navy where he served for seven years. Vern worked In and around the greater Tacoma, WA, area as owner/ operator of N.W. Factory Homes for several years, before he and Beverly moved to the Wenatchee, WA, area. He loved family BBQ' s, woodworking, fishing with his father (George), camping and watching sports.. . he arguably is one of the greatest armchair coaches of all-time!
Quick with a smile and a story, kind and generous to a fault, Vern will be missed and remembered for his tremendous strength and abundant goodness to anyone in need. His spirit and laughter will live in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of Life will be arranged after the holiday season (refer to Verle and Jeff's Facebook page for details). At Vern's request, his ashes will be spread at his favorite fishing hole, Rufus Woods lake, this spring.
