Doris J. Manson
Doris J. Manson, 81, a 68 year Wenatchee Valley resident, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at Regency Manor in Wenatchee.
She was born on July 17, 1936 at Cushing, Oklahoma to the late George and Juanita “Earlene” (Peart) Noltensmeyer. She was raised in Oklahoma to the age of nine, when the family moved to California briefly before moving to Wenatchee in 1948. She attended elementary school in Monitor, Orchard Jr. High School and Wenatchee High School. She graduated from Wenatchee High School with the class of 1955. She met and was later married to Gerald Jackson on March 3, 1956. They made their home together in East Wenatchee. Once her children entered school, she went to work as a Secretary at Wells and Wade Hardware. She remained at Wells and Wade Hardware for over 18 years before going to work at Bi-Mart in East Wenatchee.
She met and was married to Harold Manson on October 5, 1996 in Wenatchee. They made their home together in East Wenatchee and Doris continued working at Bi-Mart. After working 18 years at Bi-Mart, she retired and began working part time at the Wenatchee Valley Senior Center. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Manson, in 2001. Doris remained working at the Wenatchee Valley Senior Center until four years ago.
Doris was a longtime active member of the Wenatchee Aerie # 204, fraternal Order of Eagles, where she was a Past President and led the Funeral Honors Team for many years. She loved Wii Bowling at the Senior Center and going to the bowling alley on Friday nights. She was an amazing seamstress and in her earlier days, she sewed outfits for local dance studios. Mom loved traveling and enjoyed going on several vacations with Ken and Bobbi to the Bahamas, Disney World, an Alaskan Cruise, Hawaii and then to Ireland.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Donald “Don” & Nora Jackson, East Wenatchee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Danette “Susie” & Ray Parker, Wenatchee and Cheryl & Tom Emerson, Cashmere; one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth & Nora Noltensmeyer, Anacortes, WA; two sisters, Sharon Pearson, Walla Walla and Gloria Peterman, Branson, MO; six grandchildren, James Jackson, Cle Elum, Heather Cerovac, Aberdeen, WA, Brandie Garcia, Quincy, Jerry Dobbs, Ogden, UT, Kevin Nagato, Federal Way, Nakkita “Nikki” Jackson, Othello and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold Manson in 2001, her son, Gordon Jackson in 2014, her grandson, Brandon Jackson in 2002 and her brother, Jim Noltensmeyer.
A Commemoration Service will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Mausoleum Chapel at Evergreen Memorial Park, 1301 10th Street, East Wenatchee, with Pastor Bob Jackson officiating. The interment will follow. Family and friends are invited to share a time of remembrance and
fellowship at a reception following the service. The reception will be held at the East Wenatchee Grange located at 3400 Sunset Highway, East Wenatchee.
