Obituary for Henry "Heinie" Klocke Jr.

Henry "Heinie" Klocke Jr.
Henry John Klocke Jr.

Henry John “Heinie” Klocke Jr., 78, of Wenatchee and a former longtime Ellensburg resident, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at his home in Wenatchee.

He was born on June 23, 1939 at Ellensburg, Washington to the late Henry John Sr. and Viola (Merrill) Klocke. He grew up in Ellensburg and attended Woldale Elementary, Lourdes Academy middle school and Ellensburg High School. While in high school, he was active in F.F.A. He graduated with the class of 1959 and in June, he entered the U.S. Navy. He served until receiving his honorable discharge in November of 1962. Upon returning to Ellensburg, he went to work at Fitterer’s Furniture, where he became a Appliance repairman. He met and was later married to Beverly L. Levi on May 21, 1966 in Ellensburg. They made their home together in Ellensburg and he remained working in the appliance repair department for Fitterer’s. Throughout his career, he studied refrigeration repair at the manufacturers training centers. When Fitterer’s dropped their appliance lines, he worked in the carpet and floor coverings department and in deliveries. In 1999, he retired and they were able to do some travelling together. A few years later, he re-entered the work force and accepted a job at U.A.C. ( University Auto Center), a GMC, Buick Chrysler and Dodge Dealership in Ellensburg, where he worked as a Custodian. In early 2000, his advancing illness, forced him to accept retirement. They remained in Ellensburg until moving to Wenatchee in 2009 to be nearer their daughter and her family.

He loved being with his family and being in the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid Rock Hound that specialized in the “Ellensburg Blues Gemstones”. He always had a great sense of humor even through his adversities.

He was a former member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Ellensburg as well as the Eagles and Moose Lodges.
