Carol Hurd, 63, a Wenatchee resident for over 50 years, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Central Washington Hospital, following a sudden illness.
She was born on February 17, 1954 in Wenatchee to the late August and Marie (Michael) Gable. Her early years she spent growing up in Wenatchee and Entiat before moving to the Mount Lake Terrace Area. She attended junior high and high school at Mount Lake Terrace. While in high school she played the Violin in band and studied German. She graduated from the Mount Lake Terrace High School in 1972. Earlier, she had met Michael Hurd and they were married in the summer of 1972. Together, they made their home in Wenatchee. While her children were young, she managed to attend college and receive her nursing degree. For the next several years, she worked as a Nurse at the local nursing homes as well as a few of the assisted living facilities in the Wenatchee Valley. In the late 1990’s, she went to work at the Wenatchee Convention Center as a Cook. She has continued and was currently working at the Wenatchee Convention Center.
Carol especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid Bingo player and had extensive collections of Elvis memorabilia, Christmas Decorations, Dolls , Clowns and Carousels.
She is survived by five daughters, Rebecca Hurd and her partner, Steve Camarillo, Wenatchee, Leanne Hurd, Texas, Stephanie and husband, Eloy Velazquez, Wenatchee, Jennifer Dosck, Wenatchee and Maria Acosta East Wenatchee; four sisters, Shirley Kacson, Everett, WA, Rosalie Sproul, Mount Vernon, WA, Darlene Smith, Michigan and Linda Gable, Bothel, WA; three brothers, Larry Gable, Shelton,WA, August “Augie” Gable, Caldwell, ID and Robert “Bobbie” Gable, Washington; 15 Grandchildren, Jesse Camarillo, Justin Hurd, Matthew Hurd all of Wenatchee, Ashley Gonzalez, Pullman, WA, Christina Mattson, Richland, WA, Vanessa Montes, Eloy Velazquez, Yuri Velazquez, Michael Velazquez, Angel Velazquez, Manuel Velazquez, Espinoza Velazquez and Raeanna Dosch all of Wenatchee, Hannah Hougen-Acosta and Gabrielle Miller both of East Wenatchee and three great grandchildren, Tanner Camarillo, Wenatchee, Annleah Garcia and Annabella Garcia both of East Wenatchee. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Dorothy Gable and Delores Kirk and four brothers, Donald Gable, Billy Gable, Clarence Gable and Kenny Gable.
