Obituary for Dennis Shaw

Dennis Shaw
Dennis L. “Denny” Shaw, 66, a lifelong Wenatchee resident, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at his home in Wenatchee.
Denny was born on July 14, 1951 in Wenatchee to the late Charles and Lillian (Samuels) Shaw. He was raised and received his early education in Wenatchee. He attended Pioneer Junior High School and Wenatchee High School. Denny loved playing little league baseball in the summer for several years. Following high school, Denny enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam as a Truck Driver and Mechanic. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to Wenatchee and married Sharon Huff. Denny went to work for his brother Chuck at “ Chuck’s Service”, in Wenatchee. Later, he attended Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake where he received his Welding Certification. Once Certified, Denny went to work at Far West Mechanical in East Wenatchee. He soon became the Shop Foreman and remained there until they closed in the early 1990’s. After that, Denny started his own trucking company, known as “D.N.L. Trucking”. He ran a flat nose Peterbilt and did a lot of fruit and Christmas tree hauling. His daughters often rode along. Later, he took a job at Lloyd’s Truck Repair as a Diesel Mechanic before going to work at the “D.O.T.”, Department of Transportation, working on big rigs.
Denny especially enjoyed time with his daughters and grandchildren. He loved to coach Laci’s softball teams and he taught many of their friends how to drive. He enjoyed dancing with his girls at the Eagle’s Lodge, going to Mariner’s Games and taking them fishing. They also spent many hours working together on the latest car repairs He loved the yearly family gatherings where his siblings would all reminisce about their childhood memories. He found no greater joy in life than spending time with is grandkids. Denny was an avid Seahawks and Mariners fan.
Dennis is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Nissa & Aaron Burger, Cashmere and Laci & Jason Flowers, East Wenatchee; three grandchildren, Addyson and Corbin Burger, Cashmere and Odin Flowers, East Wenatchee; his five siblings, Barbara Larson, Yakima; Donna Smith, Kirkland; David Shaw and Diane Haley, Wenatchee; and Paula (Adam) Gonzalez, Finley, WA.
