Obituary for Alma Harmon
Alma Dean Harmon, 79, a resident of Wenatchee Valley and longtime East Wenatchee resident, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at her home.
She was born on October 14, 1937 at Twin Creek, Arkansas to the late J. W. and Edna (Denton) Harmon. Alma was raised in the Melbourne and Little Rock areas of Arkansas. She attended the Jonesboro Nurse training school and graduated with a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1957. Her first job was at the Deacones Hospital in Wenatchee. She met Chester Harmon on a blind date in 1959 and they were later married on January 29, 1960 in Wenatchee; making their home in Wenatchee until 2002 when they moved across the river to East Wenatchee.
Alma took a sabbatical from nursing while she raised her children and returned to work at Parkside Nursing Home and later at Highline Convalescent Center. She retired in 2001. When there was free time, she loved to go antiquing and enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester (Dec. 2010); brothers, R.H. and Alvin Jeffery.
Alma is survived by her children; Deanna Ingram, East Wenatchee, Darius Harmon, Ephrata and Darnell Harmon, East Wenatchee; six grandchildren, Adam Ingram, Medford, OR, Alan Ingram, East Wenatchee, Renee Spoon, Lake Worth, TX, Trista Harmon, Battleground, WA, Jessica Olsen, Wenatchee, Megan Harmon, East Wenatchee; four great grandchildren, Ruby Ingram, Malachi Ingram, both of Medford, Thurman Spoon, Lake Worth, TX, and Hayden Cherry, Battleground, WA.
