Mary Ann Rogers, 81, a lifelong Wenatchee Valley resident, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Central Washington Hospital, following a brief illness.
She was born on November 16, 1935 in Wenatchee to the late Paul and Mary (Haughton) Gray. She was raised in the Peshastin and Dryden area, attending the Peshastin Elementary School and the Peshastin High School. She graduated with the class of 1953 and continued her education in Seattle, attending dental college. After receiving her certification, she returned home and began working for a dentist in Cashmere. She met Boyd Rogers in Cashmere and they were later married there on April 21, 1956. They made their first home together in Cashmere where they remained until moving to Wenatchee in 1966. Together they became managers of the Avenue Motel in Wenatchee. They lived at the motel and were managers on and off for over a 20 year span. They moved to make their home in East Wenatchee in 1990. She loved watching her grandchildren grow up and watching their events.
Mary Ann was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Mariners, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Seahawks, Huskies, Cubs and NCAA Basketball. She was known to yell at her tv quite often while watching the games! She holds the distinct honor of winning four of the Family Fantasy Football Season Trophies. She enjoyed scrapbooking, collected water pitchers and was an excellent poem writer.
She is survived by four children and their spouses, Patti & Randy Mann, Kirkland, WA, Jeff & Sandy Rogers, Redmond, WA, Mark & Araceli Rogers, Woodinville, WA and Julie & Shane Duncan, East Wenatchee; one brother, Patrick Gray, East Wenatchee; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Colleen & Richard Montemayor, Bothell, WA and Donna & Pierce Olson, Phoenix, AZ; ten grandchildren, Sarah, Carly, Rylee, Peyton, Brenden, Kaitlyn, Rhiannon, Makenzie, Callie and Dani. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 54 years, Boyd Rogers on January 2, 2011.
A Mass of Christian Burial Service will be held on Friday, May 19th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 1315 8th Street N.E., East Wenatchee with the Rev. Fr. Seamus Kerr Celebrant. A Vigil service will be held on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. at Heritage Memorial Chapel. Viewing will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friends who wish may make memorial donations in her name to Make-A-Wish Foundation or the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society.
